I didn't set out to take a picture of a bug today, but I was looking at my Bradford Pear tree and saw a few of these little bugs on them. I had no idea what it was, so I snapped a picture using my 35mm f/1.4 lens and my macro filter. The whole time I was shooting, I was nervous because I thought this might be one of those stinkbugs. I was just waiting for it to spray. I came inside and found out it was a milkweed bug. Thank goodness they won't do anything to my tree, but I don't know why they are in my yard, because we have no milkweed. OK.... I don't think I can look at this bug anymore. I am starting to itch all over. That macro filter gets in really close. Ewwwww!
For those that asked about what kind of lenses I have, so I can see if they will go with the D7000, you can find them HERE. All of my old lenses have the motor in the lens. So the D7000 also only uses lenses with the motor inside, too?

Man, I need a macro lens! :) I love close ups of bugs and stuff. This is a great shot!
this is crazy awesome! i love the colors... but i totally agree with you, i can only see it for so long before it gives me the heepy jeepys! lol!
That is such an awesome micro - before photography came into my life, I might not have come close to a bug like this.
Such a great shot!
Fantastic shot!
AWESOME macro! I am impressed.
THis is an amazing shot. Those fuzzies on the leaf...we never see stuff like that! It's a colorful bug too.
Superb macro.
awesome capture - great job - love the colors on this little creature
cool shot!!
Cool bug. I don't think we have any of those around here. I like his colors.
I love bug photos!
I just looked it up, I think the D7000 will work with any of the Nikon lenses, motor or not. Sounds like there is a motor in the camera. I think the D90 and above all have motors in the camera. The lenses play a big role in image quality, so I would also think about budgeting in some good lenses. I hear the 35mm you have is a great lens, but think about adding another lens at some point. I feel like your camera is only as good as your lens...there is definitely a difference in image quality b/t one of my cheaper lenses and a better quality one (both Nikon).
Holy cow; that is an awesome shot!
Wow so clear!
Wow...I am impressed!!!
(I been wanting to look in to the macro filters you mentioned, but can't find them on B&H. What are the names of the ones you found?)
I am a huuuuge fan of bug photos, and this one is fantastic! :)
