3/365 Giving It Another Go.... Just Taking It One Day At A Time This Time.

This is now my 3rd time starting the Couch To 5K program. I have never been a runner. Ever. I just never had the endurance. When I was younger, I could run fast, but not long distances. But I have ALWAYS wanted to run. I think everytime I start this program, or any other long term goal for that matter, I psych myself out from the start. I really enjoy doing it but negitive thoughts start flooding in and I think about everything else I have to do on a daily bases. I even signed up for a 5K my last go round because I really thought that would keep me focused until the end, but I think it made me more overwhelmed and nervous that I would fail. I then take the focus off of myself and and put it back on my family and I never complete anything. I think I have put all my focus on my family nonstop for the last 6 yrs, since becoming a stay at home mom, that it feels odd to actually do something for myself. I am really trying to change that this year. I do have several long term goals for myself this year, but instead of thinking about them long term, I am taking them all one day at a time and for once I feel more at peace. I keep telling myself that a happy and fullfilled self, will lead to a better and more patient mommy and a more loving wife.

Great way to start and think, moms are always happier when they can have a few minutes to themselves. It renews the spirit!

Good for you. My sister last year become a runner it was out of the blue but WOW did she do well and know that has turn her life 180degrees from what it was! I'm so proud of her. So I hope this brings you luck.

Well done you! The hardest part is always mental. I finally did my first (of 3) half marathons two yrs ago & after an injury, a cross continental move & a pregnancy I'm slowly starting back to running. Ugh. Starting over is the worst!!!

Good luck with your training! I have decided I want to become a runner also. I am going to start slowing but I will be excited to follow how it goes for you. Knowing someone else feels the same way that I do will make me feel better. :)

I'm about ready to go onto my 3rd go round of the C25K plan as well. I started this past summer, made it to week 5 before this insane heat wave hit and it was just unsafe to run. Then I started in the fall, but only made it to 2 weeks.... as soon as the remains of our 2 feet of snow are gone---I'm giving it a 3rd shot! Maybe we can encourage each other! It really is a wonderful program, and I hope to run a 5K this summer, so here goes nothing!

Good luck! I did that program this summer. I was a sprinter in high school but that was it. I wasn't a long distance runner. Anyway, I tried it and although it wasn't easy, I stuck with it and at the end of 9 weeks I ran in a 5 km race. My time wasn't anything great but I finished 2/3 of the way through the pack and I ran the whole thing. Keep with it and good luck! You can do it!
