162/365 Mama Bird.... hmmm... Thinking Daddy Bird Now.

30 Days Challenge: Silhouette
As frustrating as it was trying to catch a picture of the mama bird (before she flew away) and getting a silhouette instead (OOPS!), I think this turned out quite nice for my 30 Day Challenge. Larry from The Birder's Report and I, are trying to figure out what is nesting on my front door, so hopefully I will get a better picture of her soon. His first thought was a chipping sparrow (just by seeing the nest and eggs), but when I overexpose my picture in PSE, I am wondering if he/she looks a little too red.

Update: I am wondering if what I saw was a male house finch. Maybe he was feeding the female. I never looked in the nest to see if a bird was still in it.
Here is a better picture caught later today.
I have a horrible zoom lens. This is the best that I got. You can click on it to make it bigger.

The first picture is beautiful- the way the branches frame the shot, coupled with the silhouette is just amazing!

I don't know anything about birds, but your silhouette is outstanding! I love the composition of the leaves and that the little bird is hiding in there so well that you really have to look to see him because the rest of the shot is so very interesting. Nice job.
