123/365 A Bird's Nest

Our birds have been busy this morning! I thought I noticed my wreath looked a little different yesterday, like something had been playing with it, but it had been really windy yesterday. This morning I came out to put a few things in my car, and I saw 2 birds fluttering near my door. This is what I found. A Nest. I left to go run some errands and they had built it up more.

I find it so amazing that they just know what to do. The nest is so detailed and put together so well. I am worried that we go in and out of this door all of the time. I don't want to touch the nest. Should I just leave it there?

I guess we could always go out of the garage door for now.
I would love for the kids to see the eggs and then see them hatch.

That is so neat! I find it amazing too, the detail birds put into their nests. We had one in a hanging basket a few years ago. It was neat for the kids to see the baby birds. Pretty wreath!

I always find it interesting that birds pick the strangest locations for their nests. I suspect we have one up in our porch's rain gutter. I've seen a lot of activity up there. Poor thing is probably wishing he'd picked a better spot now since we've been having so much rain this spring. :)

We just had 2 birds start swooping our front door today, I think they put a nest in out gutter above the door. But they are making the cat nuts and I'm afraid they are going to dive bomb my kids! lol Wish the one by our door was visible! Lucky! Maybe you will get to photography some baby birds soon...

Aaw. How cool is that!

Cool...now everyday you'll see another egg appear until the birds are finished. It should be fine to go in and out as long as the door doesn't get closed too hard.

We had one in a wreath, on the house by the door a few years ago, and they moved after getting all settled. I hope yours will stay and give you eggs and babies to photograph. I believe I WOULD use the other door, and maybe put a sign up to knock on the back door. These are beautiful photos of the nest!

seriously how cute that the birdies built a nest on your fake wreath on the front door. That is too adorable!! I would be tempted to leave it to watch the action but, I too would worry I would disturb things. Good luck deciding!

How neat! I'd probably leave it for the same reason - wanting to see some eggs and baby birdies. Not sure if the husband would take it down though. Haha.

Ooooo... definitely leave it! What an amazing opportunity for your kids to see nature and what a friendly little place for the birds! It looks beautiful, like it was a part of the wreath all along!

Maybe you could set up a camera for us to follow along with their developement like they did with the Eagle family....just kidding, but their handy work is very impressive and so your photo.

So cool! I just found a nest in our yard too and was marveling at how well-constructed they are. I hope you keep and eye on it and update us on its new inhabitants!

I love this.. how perfectly beautiful. I agree with another comment of using the other door and putting a sign up to knock at back door too.

So cool! That is a beautiful nest. I think you're right - if you continue to go in and out of that door I think the birds will find a new place to build a home.
