21/365 Nap Time with Cole

My poor Coley Cole. He is now going through the stage where if he is not happy... he doesn't like anything. If a toy isn't working correctly, he doesn't like it. If he doesn't like the tv show that is on, he doesn't like the tv. If his sister and him are not getting along, he doesn't like her or the dog. We went to the Dr the other day and it wasn't the Dr he thought he was going to see so he told us, "I don't like this world." :( He is such a sad little guy right now and I hate it. I am really hoping this is a phase. I don't remember my oldest being like this but Cole has always been so sensitive. At night and nap time right now it is a fight to get him to sleep. He doesn't like his bed, he doesn't like his room, doesn't like the dark, doesn't like the nightlight, doesn't want to nap... the list goes on and on. I do really feel bad for him. So today (and I often do when I can), I laid down with him in our bed and took a nap with him. He said, "Mom, I wuv your bed and I wuv you too!" and gave me the biggest smile. He didn't make a peep and went right to sleep. He was so peaceful and happy so I snapped these pictures of him. I think he felt safe and secure with his mommy. He is growing up so fast. I wanted to capture this moment.

Awww.sorry to hear he is so sad! My oldest will say things like that and it makes my heart so sad! I think it is wonderful you are identifying this and you can be so sensitive to it. I hope it gets better!

Keara, I want to tell you how lovely these "photos" are, but they seem so much more than photos, don't they? It seems funny to say this, as I only know you through blog-land, but you are a great Mom and Cole will come through this phase stronger because of you. Hang in there!

Aww, these are precious! I say if he wants to sleep with Mommy for a nap a little while longer, so bet it... someday he won't need you so much and you will be thankful for those precious times he did. =)

Don't those little "I love you's" just melt your heart? In the midst of phases like this it is so comforting to know that the little one still finds safety and warmth in your companionship :)
Beautiful images, your processing really adds to the peaceful feel :)

You really captured a beautiful moment. Phases like these can be so trying on us as moms, but to hear the little "I love you's" really help to re-assure us that we are doing something right!

I hope it is a stage.

I like the softness and color of the photos. Were they edited? I especially like the one with his little belly button peeping through. I think you captured the moment perfectly.

Happy Friday!

These pictures are so sweet but that post is sad. :( I'm sure it's a phase...Our oldest though sometimes seems to have a very melancholy attitude. I often hope it's a phase...so I know where you are coming from.

I hope he feels better very soon. It sounds like having mom to himself for awhile was just what he needed today.

I love when my little guy sleeps with me too. I've always felt a little guilty about it because so many people frown upon it, but I recently read something from another mom who relished it and said that she knew he wouldn't want to sleep/nap with her forever, so she was just going to enjoy it while she could. Napping with my boy is one of my greatest joys right now, so I'm glad to hear that you and Cole enjoy it too.
